Spicy Chicken and Mushroom Soup

5 Tablebpoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 teaspoons garam masala
1 teaspoon crushed black peppercorns
scant teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
2 cups skinned and deboned chicken
1 medium leek, sliced
heeping cup of sliced mushrooms
1/3 cup corn
1 and 1/4 (plus) water
1 cup (plus) light cream

1.  Melt the butter over medium heat.  When the butter is melted lower the heat slightly then add garlic and garam masala.
2.  Lower heat a little more and add  black pepper and nutmeg.
3.  Add chicken, leek, mushrooms, and corn.  Stir constantly until chicken is  completely cooked (about 5 to 7 minutes).
4.  Add water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
5.  Lower heat and stir in cream.
